About Will Roesner
Will Roesner is a singer, songwriter, producer, and composer who has been recording and independently releasing music since 2020. Will feels like his music is pop music. However, he draws influence from many places- including but not limited to folk, 90s rock, ambient music, shoegaze, and even video game soundtracks. So, it is hard to pin down a genre that encompasses his broad discography. We’ll just call it indie.
Since 2021 Will has recorded 5 studio albums and worked with a variety of other artists. After playing with a series of different bands he released his first solo album “Wind” in 2021. It is an intimate, lofi-folk, album that draws influence from ambient music. “Wind” started a thread of emotional vulnerability that has stayed connected to Will’s music since.
Following “Wind” was 2022’s “Spirit, Hello”, a much more intricate project, and an exploration of pop music. With this release, Will also began dipping his toes into a more aggressive rock sound, and a more experimental approach to songwriting and production.
Will’s next release was “The Great Nothing” an eclectic and mostly instrumental collection of 29 tracks recorded from May ‘22 to February ‘23. This album was perhaps Will’s most experimental to date.
In May of 2023 “Farms an Stuff” was released. This raw, pastoral, and textured, folk album became a favorite among fans for its cohesiveness and strong emotional weight. And for the violins.
In December of 2023 Will began releasing one single every week. This continued until June 2024, and this collection features a wide variety of sounds and some of his best work.
Roesner’s most recent project is an album called “August”. For this project, Will wrote and recorded a song every day during August of 2024. This album represents an evolution in his songwriting, and a step in a new direction. The album is slated for release in Fall 2024.
In January of 2025, will released “Fairy Music” a 23-song album featuring a sound that feels like a culmination of everything he made leading up to it. The album is expansive and long, jumping genres at times with the vocoders of “Good As I Thought” to the breakbeats of “Buoy”; from the raw folk sounds of “I Want A Sunset” to the gothic organs of “Castle”. Fairy Music is easily one of Will’s most ambitious projects, and it is a representation of the adventurous nature of his music.
Since “Wind” Will has also been busy recording, and producing for other artists. Notably, he produced Jade Robbins’ 2024 album “Hearttower”, and Noa Jamir’s single “Indebted”. He also scored Harrison Atwood’s short film “Vendicare”, and is currently working on a video game score.
Will is currently based in Seattle, Washington where he is playing shows with a four-piece band comprised of Joseph Belcher on lead guitar, Maya Stone on bass, and Wyatt Pinto on drums.

Ugly Hug Single Review

Will Roesner, based out of New Orleans, LA has been gifting us with singles throughout the year and I always get a dopamine rush when I hear one of his new releases.
If you’re into the worlds of Elliot Smith, Alex G, and Greg Mendez, Will Roesner will be a perfect addition.
Interview with Motel Void

I feel I am a part of a scene that is a little more underground than the overall New Orleans music scene.
There isn’t a shortage of shows within this small scene too, and lots of people come out and support. It feels a little bit like an extended family.
ANR Factory Review

This kind of lo-fi folky indie rock is something I’ve been featuring on our blog for some time, and I must say, I’m really enjoying it.
